Anahid was either the daughter or the wife of the god Aramazd. She was Armenian’s most loved and worshiped goddess. Knows as the mother goddess and the mother of prudence and chastity, Anahid was the holy impersonification of motherhood, harvest ant fertility. She was also the symbol of virtues.
Many temples were erected for the goddess in various regions of Armenia. The most famous of these temples was the Temple of Erzenga.
Since her statue in Erzenga was cast in gold, Anahid was also called Vosgueghdsi, Vosguehad (Gold mine), Vosguedsin (Chrysogen), and Vosguemayr (Mother of gold).
The Anahid Chapter was establishes in 1966 in the Mar Youssef region.
The founding board included: Nvart Malkhassian (Chair), Shake Avedikian, Armenouhi Daghdevirian, and Henriette Keshishian.
The chapter operates at the Mar Youssef ARCL Center.
