According to historian Samuel Anetsi or Samuel of Ani, Aydzemnig was a courageous Armenian woman who fought in the heroic fights for the defense of the city of Ani in 1126 A.D. The fights lasted for more than a year and left death, destruction, and starvation throughout the Shirag Province. According to the accounts of the Samuel Anetsi, Aydzemnig who fought bravely on the walls of the fortress lost her life for the salvation of her people and her beloved city.
The Aydzemnig Chapter was established in 1935 in Tripoli, north of Lebanon.
The founding board included: Nvart Papazian, Nazeli Harmandayian, Marie Srabonian, Nvart Chubakjian, Margrit Ourfalian, Srpouhi Gulvartian, Yeghisapet Albarian, Hnazant Chukadarian, Satenig Simonian, Yeghisapet Manougian, Aghavni Belian, Loucin Teljanian, Zabel Sahagian and Siranoush Chamkertenian.
The chapter operates at the ARF “Navasart” Center.
The Armenian community in Tripoli also has a church, St. Pentecoste (Sourp Hokekalousd), and a School, the National Noubarian-Kherimian Primary School.
